Survey 7 Results

Since we are now using Google Forms for our surveys, we have these neat little graphs for the multiple choice questions. I also just found out that tumblr lets you have a break in posts, so I’ll use that from now on. Read the results after the break.

The purpose of this was mostly to see who we needed to steal ideas from. We can’t really do anything about FurAffinity, since artists are too scared to post here or something. Probably because they can’t delete posts they don’t like, lulz. But as I theorized, e621 still has something we don’t. Hopefully the expansion of our tagging system will help us solve that.

This question was mostly to see if we should continue using both Facebook and Twitter for news, especially about site down time, or drop one. I guess we have to keep Facebook, since most of you are still twelve year old girls.

I have a feeling I should have made this a two part question, and ask people if they actually know what Reddit is. Either way, this seems like a great idea to us admins, so we’ll take the “I dunno, lol” responses and group the with the “Fuck yes!” responses. Take that, you negative-Nancy’s!

This question was mostly made to bring awareness to people and teach them that reading is good. Clearly, most of you lied on this one, since the question even states that we had a search function, yet at least 50% of you suggested we add a search function. Seriously, I made it so easy for you. Please check the FAQ section of the site for a list of board features (which I will probably have to update soon, since we have not added anything since before /r/) or maybe I can sucker one of the new mods into doing it for me, haha.

I can’t remember who suggested this one, but bits of this survey where added and removed over the course of a few months, so who knows. I’m sure Marker will be a bit disappointing that Brian Cox didn’t win, I know he was rooting for him. Stupid sexy Megan Fox.

This one was very interesting for me. It seems like our user base is pretty loyal at this point. I can’t say I am all that surprised either though, since we just recently where forced to upgrade our server due to the heavy load.

I’m going to bother the other guise and see if they make blogs like this, just for lulz. I’ll also update mine more, like I keep promising but not doing. Give me a break, I’m trying to run the largest furry imageboard on the Internet over here.

And now on to the part of the show where I reply to some of your comments on the survey. Just like last time, I’ll choose some of the more amusing/interesting/common comments. There are just way too many to post all of them.

Question: Recently, we added a tagging system for posts. We can now create pages that utilize these tags in whatever way we want. Give us your ideas.

I think the tagging system sucks.
It’s unnecessary.

Our tagging system is very new, and is mostly in place so we can get stuff tagged for now. We have not set up all the things we have planned for it, so that’s why it may suck right now. As for being unnecessary, well, this guy must just not be very bright if he can’t see why it’s useful.

It would be nice to have a option added to the search that would search tags only.

It’s a very nice idea to help search for specific things, but many ponies don’t seem to be using it as much as I thought they would (like tagging comics).

I’m hoping people will catch on to the tagging thing more once most threads have them, and we have a nicer way to use them. Until then, you can always help out by tagging things for us. Oh joy, what fun!

This is actually a very good suggestion, I think it’d be a much nicer way to have things laid out. I’ll look into it.

I think maybe when you click on a tag, and other threads have that same tag, it should show all the threads with that tag. (It may already do this and I don’t know it. :3)

This is also an idea that is in the works. In case you have not noticed yet, we actually do have a lot of stuff planned for tags. I wasn’t lying.

You could use something very similar, like the tag system on e621 or the most boorus on the web like:

Danbooru
wildcritters
Sankaku complex

This will quite possibly by incorporated into the new tags page we are working on.

You could possibly tag them as what is in the comic or pic by like if it’s a chubby, a panda, a lizard, etc.

I like how this guy included chubbies in a list of different species, lulz. This is something that the tags are already meant for, it’s just up to the users to start doing it.

Automatic system. So you write, say, blowjob, and it automaticaly recognizes the term and links it in to the mane tag called blowjob.

This would undoubtedly result in the worst tagging system ever. Say a guy uploads a picture of two gay furs having aggressive anal sex, and says something like “Why don’t straight guys hate gay furry porn? I’m gay, but I don’t mind art with females in it.” This would result in the image being tagged as straight, gay, and female. It would, however, be kind of lulzy.

A good search feature would be nice. Sometimes I’m searching for a particular artist or theme. I could just be missing the location of the search bar.

You should create an option that allows you to instantly enlargen all the images in the thread, for instance, when a ponycomes across a comic they want to read and not have to go through and click on all the images at once.

Profile creation would also be rather cool.

Have the option to unselect tags in threads, .e.g in a thread where some images are of Krystal, you could do something like control click the tag ‘Krystal’ to hide all images of her. Also update the ‘Hide posts without an image’ button so it also hides any posts tagged as ‘macro’, then add a tick box when posting to label ponies’s posts as image macro replies (because ponies are lazy cunts who can’t be bothered to type macro). This would allow image macro replies to co-exist with comic pages thus solving one of the biggest problems that /gc/ and /c/ have.

This is a pretty new feature, but we do have it already. Just click any tag in the OP post and it will hide all posts with that tag.

Organize the tags by author, genre, etc. Maybe allow users to create custom lists of tags…

We sport of have this already, but as suggested, it will be expanded on.

This site is awesome. Plain and simple. I have done much ‘browsing’ in my years on the internet, and U-18chan is pretty much the only site that updates regularly, keeps flaming down to a minimum, and actually has a friendly and easy-going environment.

The site is kind of off the radar, I only found it while browsing Pawsru, may want to find a way to get more traffic.

It’s off the radar because once someone finds U-18Chan, they don’t go back. We are THE LARGEST furry imageboard on the Internet. I don’t see how we could possibly need more users. More posters, maybe, but to be fair, there is a LOT of content already on the site, so it’s hard to find stuff to post that’s not already there.

Mobile friendliness! When I need to check out some furry dicks and there are people in the room, I would like to do so on my phone. Mostly loading all the images in a thread is a problem. Especially when it’s 500+ images. Other than that, maybe a custom format style when the site detects you are running iOS or Android, idk. It’s your site, you do what you want.

Get a smart phone that is compatible with the Internet. Honestly, at the rate phones are being developed at, any smart phone worth it’s cost can hold up just as well as a computer for web browsing.  I find mobile versions of sites are just annoying and have so little features that I choose the desktop view when browsing on my Samsung Galaxy S II. However, we do try to keep things like Javascript to a minimum, which really helps with phones.

I’m an officer of my local GSA(Gay Straight Alliance) and we get info all the time from the LGBTQ National Resource Center. We have been thinking of changing the name of the board recently so we can put cuntboys in there. But after reading that, I’m tempted to make the name as offensive as possible. The GSA is just some retarded after school group made up of social rejects and people who want to cause drama. I don’t care what they say is politically correct, and furthermore, I don’t care what is politically correct period. That is why our front page is littered with the word nigger. But that’s enough ranting for now, it’s not good for my health.

Some of your mods are royal bitches with a quivering finger on a hair-trigger banhammer. Has it ever occurred to any of you that some of the people you ban are also those who donate? I’ve preferred U18chan in the last couple years because it’s on the opposite end of the spectrum of the now-former Fchan as far as general environment and friendliness of the mods but lately some of the mods are becoming more Fchanesque and I’m beginning to wonder if that site going down meant their small-dicked, hypersensitive mods came traipsing over to you guys in a moody fit of dejection and y’all had pity and appointed them without questioning whether or not they had the appropriate temperament for it. People with an inferiority complex are never a good choice as a person to police any sort of social resource.

All of our mods are hand selected, monitored, and dealt with if they do anything out of order. We have absolutely nothing to do with fchan, just like everyone else who made it out of 2007. I have no idea what’s going on with that shit hole, and we have never hired any of their mods. You’re so wrong about everything, it’s funny. If you donated, that’s great, but it does not grant you immunity from the rules. We’ve also had stupid faggots like you complaining that “this place is becoming more like fchan” since we first started getting a steady stream of users. Some people must just love being negative and trying to compare things all the time.
